Royal wedding continues with engagement ceremony

Regal ceremonies for the royal wedding between Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah and Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi continued with the Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja ceremony yesterday, involving the sending of a delegation from the residence of the bridegroom along with royal and engagement gifts to Istana Nurul Iman as a show of affection.

The ceremony began at the groom’s residence at Darussidiq, Jerudong in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, who has been appointed by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to oversee ceremonies on the groom’s side.

Following the ceremony at Darussidiq, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim bin Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj appointed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong to lead the groom’s delegation with the royal and engagement gifts to Istana Nurul Iman.

At Istana Nurul Iman, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik received the groom’s delegation and following the royal tradition, the Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja were then presented to His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam.

After the royal and engagement gifts were presented to Their Majesties, the groom’s delegation headed to the Banquet Hall of Istana Nurul Iman for the closing ceremony on the bride’s side before returning to Darussidiq.
