Royal visit strengthens Brunei-Oman ties

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Oman from December 8-10 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei and Oman.

On December 9, Her Royal Highness was received in audience by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman at Al Barakah Palace.

During the audience, both sides highlighted the accomplishments made by both countries in the past 40 years, noting that the collaboration between the two countries has developed robustly across various areas of shared cooperation including in the fields of trade and investment, education and people-to-people exchanges.

Her Royal Highness attended a dinner reception to commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei and Oman at Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Muscat co-hosted by the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Muscat, Oman and the Foreign Ministry of Oman.

Foreign Minister of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Minister of Information of Oman Dr Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Harrasi; officials from both countries as well as Brunei nationals residing in the Sultanate were also present.

The reception featured cultural performances by Brunei and Oman.

During the visit, Her Royal Highness also visited The National Museum and the Royal Opera House Muscat.

Brunei and Oman formalised diplomatic relations on March 24, 1984.

The two countries enjoy excellent cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, education, defence, and people-to-people exchanges.

Throughout the visit, Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.
