HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam received a Junjung Ziarah from this year’s intending Haj pilgrims yesterday.
The annual tradition, held at the Istana Nurul Iman, provides an opportunity for Bruneian pilgrims to meet the monarch and express their gratitude for the support received from His Majesty in facilitating their journey to Makkah.
During the event, His Majesty received the intending male pilgrims, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman while receiving the intending female pilgrims.
Prior to the Junjung Ziarah, the intending pilgrims were treated to a meal prepared specially for them. They also performed mass Zohor prayer at the palace and were later presented with Kurnia (personal gifts) from His Majesty through the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
A total of 1,000 Brunei Haj pilgrims will be performing their Haj this year, out of which 475 are male pilgrims and 525 female pilgrims including the 491 recipients of Haj Kurnia of the government of His Majesty for civil servants and officers and 10 Haj Kurnia for new converts.
Seventy-five pilgrims are under the Brunei Shell Petroleum Haj Fare, 12 from Royal Brunei Haj Fare and one Haj pilgrim under the personal gift of Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Nor’ain.
Accompanying the Bruneian Haj pilgrims are five Haj Administration officers and 20 Haj medical officers while the local Haj operators are Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, Straits Central Agencies (B) Sdn Bhd, Raudah Al-Amin Sdn Bhd and At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sdn Bhd with each Haj operators sending their Haj pilgrims guide.
The first Haj flight will leave Brunei on July 18 at 8am, second flight leaves on July 19 at 11am, third flight leaves on July 20, at 3pm and the last flight leaves on July 21, at 5.30pm.
Returning flights will be on August 18 at 6.40pm, August 19 at 10.25pm, August 21 at 1.25am and August 22 at 1.20am.
