Royal presence at Dubai expo

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam visited Brunei Darussalam Pavilion at the Opportunity District, Expo 2020 Dubai yesterday.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Upon arrival at the pavilion, His Majesty was greeted by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah. His Majesty consented to receive a pesambah of calligraphy art by a local artist showcased at the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion.

His Majesty was invited to tour the exhibition areas in the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion.

Themed ‘Brunei Darussalam 2035 – Bridging to the Future’, the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion is divided into three zones: Zone one showcases the heritage and culture of Brunei Darussalam through a video presentation showing the local’s tradition and way of life as well as calligraphy arts from the Islamic Calligraphy and Arts Study Centre of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; Zone two showcases the Bridge to the Future Exhibition, which illustrates the development of the Sultanate since the 15th Century until the present day and the country’s aspiration towards Brunei Vision 2035; and Zone three is the main exhibition hall featuring information on Brunei Vision 2035, the five priority clusters for the Sultanate’s development, in line with the Economic Blueprint, and the rich biodiversity that has become an attraction for the tourism sector.

A total of 192 countries are participating in the expo. Brunei’s participation aims to showcase the country’s development in the main sectors such as economy, social and culture. It is also hoped that the expo will be able to attract potential foreign investors.

The expo runs for six months from October 1, 2021 until tomorrow. Over 680,000 visitors visited the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion, which features 150 products from 22
local vendors.

Brunei’s participation at the expo provides the opportunity for local products to penetrate new markets, particularly the UAE.
