Over 2,500 people gathered at the Municipal Field along Jalan Sultan in Kuala Belait yesterday for the get-together ceremony with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, concluding this year’s get-together ceremonies across the nation in high spirits.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival via helicopter, His Majesty and other members of the royal family first stopped by the Belait District Officer’s residence, before proceeding to the Municipal field.
The route to the Municipal Field was lined with students waving miniature national flags to welcome the arrival of His Majesty and members of the royal family.
On arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong as the Chairman of the National Executive Committee for His Majesty’s 75th Birthday Celebration, along with the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, acting deputy permanent secretaries, and Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin.
Following the singing of the national anthem, His Majesty and members of the royal family witnessed a special performance titled Raja Mahkota Negara featuring 450 students from primary and secondary schools performing traditional Bruneian tunes, contemporary formations and live band performances, with the third segment accompanied by live singing of the theme song Raja Mahkota Negara.
The ceremony concluded with a birthday song performed by the students.
His Majesty and members of the royal family then joined a traditional get-together with the Belait resident, before concluding at Santap Hall near the Belait District Officer’s residence for a lunch reception.
