The banking industry plays a significant role in facilitating the public in obtaining financial loans for property development.
This was said by Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development (MoD) Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak during a roadshow organised by the Board Management Division (BMD) for members of the Brunei Association of Bank (BAB) yesterday.
The roadshow was part of an ongoing effort by the MoD to protect public interest in the construction and real estate industry, and to raise stakeholders’ awareness in the law under the Valuers and Estate Agents Order; Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors Order; and Housing Developers Order each of which provides for the establishment of relevant statutory board to regulate the professions.
It was also aimed at serving as a platform to promote inclusivity towards the sustainability of the socio-economic development in the country, especially in the construction and real estate industry.
The event continued with a series of briefings by representatives from the three statutory boards.
A briefing on caveats under the Land Code was also presented by a senior officer from the Land Department.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Ar Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman, Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Legal) at the MoD Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub; Executive Director of Economic of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) Dr Irene Yap Tsue Ing; Deputy Chairman of BAB Sulaiman bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, and members of the BAB and statutory boards were also present.
