Road to DevFest attendees prepare for annual event

Lyna Mohamad

To equip participants with the prerequisite skills needed to prepare them for the upcoming annual DevFest, Google Developers Group (GDG) Brunei and Women Techmakers (WTM) Brunei conducted a Road to DevFest programme on Sunday.

Supported by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) and Brunei Innovation Lab (BIL), the programme was carried out at the Anggrek Desa Tech Park in Berakas.

The event was attended by almost 40 in-person participants and roughly 40 virtual participants.

Road to DevFest held beginner-friendly talks and workshops with three tracks – Tech, Student and Business.

The Tech track was further broken down into Web, Cloud, Database, Back-end, Edutech, augmented reality (AR), 3D and Cyber Security.

Road to DevFest was conducted as a hybrid event where participants could attend the sessions virtually or in-person at rooms found in the Anggerek Desa Tech Park.

The organising group hopes to continue the trend of hosting more hybrid events to attract more in-person and virtual attendees.

GDG Brunei is a community-run group for anyone interested in exploring technology while WTM is a community-run group that focusses on providing visibility, inclusivity, a sense of community and resources for women in technology in the Sultanate. Both groups are non-profit and regularly organise free technical events for anyone to attend.
