Rimba Star FC got a boost after acquiring a new van through a COVID-19 Solidarity Fund made available by the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD). The official van launch was held at the NFABD House in Berakas yesterday.
The new van is expected to accommodate under 15s and under 18s players, and ease transportation of equipment.
NFABD President Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan congratulated Rimba Star for investing in the vehicle for the greater benefit of the club.
FIFA has provided financial assistance to associations under the world governing body in extending the COVID Solidarity Fund, which is distributed to NFABD members including Rimba Star.
Pengiran Haji Matusin said, “Insya Allah, NFABD will make efforts to obtain assistance from FIFA, AFC (Asian Football Confederation), AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) or any parties, so that plans and activities can be realised.”
The president also advised other clubs affiliated with NFABD to make appropriate preparations.
According to Rimba Star FC President Yassin bin Haji Md Noor, the club was founded in 2008 and initially competed in the Brunei-Muara District League.
They enjoyed league triumph and got promoted to the Brunei Premier League, the country’s second tier.
Currently, Rimba Star compete in the Brunei Super League as well as in the junior leagues including the under-12, under-16 and the under-19 leagues.
The club were crowned champions in the under-12 league in 2017, and clinched third place in the under-16 league.
