Some 191 participants dressed in their best took to the road on their motorcycles in support of men’s health in the annual worldwide Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) yesterday.
Ride host Azim Ghani said the motivation for the fundraiser came from knowing that men’s health issues are often overlooked.
“We wanted to raise awareness not only for men who may be suffering, but also for their friends and family,” said Azim.
The ride aims to shine a light on bikes, fashion, and ideals of the DGR – showing the world that the dapper motorcyclists aren’t causing trouble on the streets, but are raising funds and awareness for an important cause. The DGR is a global charity motorcycling event that began in 2012 in Australia and has since raised over USD40 million for men’s health. Azim Ghani said this year saw the highest number of participants, with Brunei DGR raising USD1,234 thanks to sponsors and participants.
Since 2014, Brunei has raised USD10,900.90 as part of the DGR.
This year’s DGR flagged off at QAF Auto in Beribi, continuing to the Jerudong Park Gardens and ending at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
