Reuniting with brothers in arms

Officers from the 23rd Intake for the Royal Brunei Malay Regiment (RBMR) held a Tahlil and Doa Selamat ceremony to mark their 50th anniversary at the Mangrove Paradise Resort Restaurant on Thursday.

The ceremony also served as a reunion to rekindle old friendships and reminisce about the members trained as brothers in arms.

Tahlil and Doa Selamat recitation was led by Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Haji Ismail bin Serbin. Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Haji Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah who served as a Platoon Commander of the 23rd intake was also present.

The former officers started their training as Officer Cadets at Bolkiah Camp, now known as Bolkiah Garrison, from January 23 to June 23, 1971.

Upon completion of basic training in Brunei Darussalam, they continued overseas, in the United Kingdom and Australia, and obtained their commission as 2nd lieutenants before serving the Royal Brunei Malay Regiment in the Sultanate.
