TWENTY-FIVE Brunei-Muara senior scout leaders attended a Wood Badge holders’ reunion at a restaurant in Beribi, Gadong to mark the 100th anniversary of the Wood Badge scout leadership programme.

The gathering began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Omar bin Matnor followed by welcoming remarks from former secretary general of the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) Haji Domeng bin Haji Abdul Wahab in his capacity as Chairman of the reunion organising committee.

Haji Domeng said the event was aimed at gathering scouts who are Wood Badge recipients and remembering their contributions and involvement in the scout movement in the country.

The Wood Badge award is the highest recognition for scout leaders and commissioned for those who have completed and passed the leadership course.

Former PPNBD president Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas was also present.

Dato Paduka Haji Idris pledged to continue to provide contributions and assistance to the scout movement in Brunei Darussalam, particularly in yachting activities.

He also promised to assist scout members in the country – in particular Sea Scouts – on yachting related guidance and training.
