Two officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs were in Bali, Indonesia to attend the ASEAN Islamic Conference from December 21 to 23.
The conference was organised jointly by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Propagation and Counselling of Saudi Arabia to foster closer ties and propagation among ASEAN nations.
Brunei’s delegation comprised Special Duties Officer Grade II at the Religious Understanding and Counselling Unit Muhammad Yussof bin Abdul Majid and Religious Officer at the Islamic Da’wah Centre Mohammad Nasyith bin Superi.
Themed ‘Khairu Ummah’ (‘Best Ummah’), the conference agenda included religious moderation and rejection of extremism.
The Brunei officers presented a working paper on extremism ideology in the perspective of understanding and belief.
Some 140 participants attended the conference officiated by Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
