Doa Kesyukuran ceremonies were held at mosques and religious halls nationwide yesterday, ahead of the 38th National Day celebrations today.
In Belait District, a ceremony was held at the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Kuala Belait.
Acting Belait District Officer Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed was the guest of honour.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, penghulus, village heads and heads of government departments in Belait District were also present.
The ceremony began with a mass Maghrib prayer led by Mosque Affairs Officer Imam Akup bin Haji Lamat.
This was followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by Imam Akup, as well as the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran by the Acting Head of Religious Officers in Belait District Nur Suffian bin Haji Yahya.
Imam of the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque Haji Mohd Alias bin Bakar performed the Azan for Isyak prayer, while Imam Akup led the ceremony with the mass Isyak prayer and the recitation of Surah.
The ceremony also took place at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque and Pekan Seria Mosque in Belait District.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held a similar ceremony at Surau Ad-Difa’ of the Bolkiah Garrison.
RBAF Chief of Staff Colonel (U) Abdul Rahman bin Haji Durahman was the guest of honour.
RBAF senior officers, officers and personnel were also present.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation of Al-Quran verses by Muhammad Abdussalam bin Haji Jahari from the RBAF’s Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT), followed by mass Maghrib and Sunnat Hajat prayers and a mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin.
There was also recitation of Doa Kesyukuran by Pengiran Muhd Azrin bin Pengiran Jarail from the RBAF ‘s JAMA’AT.
The ceremony concluded with a mass Isyak prayer.
Similar ceremonies were held simultaneously at all suraus in the RBAF garrisons and camps, including Kampong Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque.
