Religious competition winners awarded prizes

The finals of the 31st National Azan Subuh and Doa Azan recitation competition, as well as the Memorisation of Ayat-Ayat Lazim and its Interpretation (for primary schools across the nation) were held at the Islamic Da’wah Centre yesterday.

Fourteen finalists represented their schools, with seven male students competing in the Azan Subuh and Doa Azan recitation; and seven female participants competing in the Memorisation of Ayat-Ayat Lazim and its interpretation.

The first place winner of the Azan Subuh and Doa Azan recitation competition was Muhammad Qayyim Wafiuddin bin Mohamad Shahruldin from Sungai Tali Primary School, followed by Muhammad Syaamil bin Haji Kamarul Azam from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School and Md Haziq Huzaimi bin Md Fiful Shahiril from Penanjong Primary School.

The first place winner in the female category was Nur Damia Faqihah binti Md Aji from Nusa Jaya Primary School, Keriam, followed by Dania Darwishya binti Mohd Aizam from St Angela’s School and Nur Damia Adlina binti Mohammad Sukri from Tanjong Kindana Primary School.

Islamic Da’wah Centre Director Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh awarded the prizes.

The competition aimed to raise awareness and religious understanding through the recitation of verses of Al-Quran, increase student participation in religious activities, as well as polish their skills in reciting Al-Quran.
