Religious ceremony marks National Family Day

A virtual religious ceremony was held in conjunction with the National Family Day celebration by the Community Development Department (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour, and was joined by his spouse Datin Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah.

Also present were permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretary, government officials and representatives of private agencies, associations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister, followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Yaasiin led by Al-Minhaaj Centre lecturer Awangku Muhammad Khairul Hakimin bin Pengiran Abdul Manan.

The event continued with the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran, doa seeking protection against COVID-19 and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam led by Mosque Affairs Officer Mohd Saifullah bin Rosli.

The event also saw a brief tazkirah entitled Keluargaku Syurgaku delivered by Ministry of Religious Affairs Special Duties Officer Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid.

Concluding the event was the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah and Surah Al-’Asr by a student of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School Muhammad Firdaus bin Mohammed Salleh.

National Family Day is celebrated annually in the first Sunday of May.

Various activities and programmes will be held in the upcoming weeks themed ‘My Family, My Hope’.
