Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah held a 25 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for Mosques, Suraus and Religious Halls Takmir Committee across the nation in conjunction with the mosque’s Silver Jubilee celebration yesterday.
The event was organised by Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in collaboration with mosque affairs officers from all four districts.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour. He was accompanied by his spouse Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Asbi.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar and spouse; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof and spouse; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang and spouse; directors and deputy directors from the departments under the ministry as well as officers and staff of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah over the past 25 years.
Seven hundred and fifty participants took part in the religious ceremony.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour followed by the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran by Khatam participants led by Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.
It continued with the recitation of Takhtim by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murat and Doa Khatam by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz.
The event was further enlivened with a Dikir Marhaban by Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Takmir Committee members. It ended with the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa.
The event was also held to commemorate the contributions by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam towards the construction of the mosque as well as strengthen ties between members of the mosque Takmir committee across Brunei.
