A RELIGIOUS ceremony concluded the Orientation Week for the 826 students enrolling into Politeknik Brunei (PB) at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque, Kampong Manggis/Madang yesterday.
The guest of honour was Assistant Head of the Department of General Studies Haji Md Jaafar bin Haji Johari who led the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah to start the event. It was followed by the mass recitation of Rattib Al-Attas and concluded with Doa Penutup and Doa Kesyukuran.
The religious event was held to bless the orientation week of the ninth intake of students for academic year 2019/2020 as well as express gratitude for the acceptance of the new students to PB.
The orientation week was filled with programmes helping students to understand PB and give a picture of life as a polytechnic student.
The students were briefed on registration and examinations; government scholarships; Narcotics Control Bureau; enrichment programme; student services and ethics; emotional well-being; reliance and sustainability; ‘HAPPY Briefing’ by Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council; financial services and academic matters as well as in leadership and teamwork activities.
This year, the School of Health Sciences offered a new Diploma in Health Sciences (Dental Hygiene and Therapy programme) which is carried out in collaboration with the Department of Dental Services, Ministry of Health.
Twenty-two programmes are offered by PB under four schools – School of Business, School of Information and Communication Technology, School of Science and Engineering and the School of Health Sciences.
