Religious ceremony ahead of Ramadhan

It has become a tradition for local Muslim community from various government agencies, associations, statutory bodies, villages and individuals to hold a Tahlil ceremony and Doa Arwah for the deceased as a prelude to the holy month of Ramadhan.

Former officers and staff of the Information Department recently organised a Tahlil and Doa Arwah for former officers and staff who had passed away.

Present at the ceremony were former directors of the Information Department Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and former Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Hazair bin Haji Abdullah.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, whose late father was a former officer at the Information Department and nearly 100 officers and staff at the agency also attended the event.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister.

It continued with the reading of Ratib Al-Attas led by Haji Abdul Rahman bin Ajak, while Tahlil recitation and Doa Arwah were led by Bilal of Kampong Pintu Malim Mosque Haji Mohd Rajeh bin Haji Muntol.

The ceremony aimed at ushering the month of Ramadhan while strengthening the relation among former personnel.

The group also organised a reunion at Tarindak D‘Seni; Maulidur Rasul celebration at the Auditorium Hall of the Information Department in 2018, and a Hari Raya celebration at the Stadium Restaurant in 2019.

“The committee members also agreed to publish a Surah Yaasiin book and dedicate it to a list of 59 ex-Information department personnel who had passed away”, Secretary of the ceremony Haji Jaafar bin Haji Ibrahim said. “Insya Allah more plans have been lined up for the future including Hari Raya celebrations in Syawal this year,” he added.
