Religious ceremonies for intending Haj pilgrims

A Doa Kesyukuran ceremony to bless the journey of the Haj Medical Management delegation and intending Haj pilgrims from the Ministry of Health (MoH) was held yesterday.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar was the guest of honour.

The event held at the MoH Complex in Commonwealth Drive saw 20 medical officers comprising six doctors and 14 nurses presented with appointment letters by the minister.

The delegation led by Dr Haji Adi Adilah bin Haji Ahmad will leave the country before Brunei’s Haj pilgrims.

The minister also presented contributions to 41 intending Haj pilgrims from MoH comprising 13 male and 28 female pilgrims. The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Head of Religious Section of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital Ustaz Nor Asilin bin Haji Puting.

EIGHTY-one officers and staff from the Ministry of Education will perform Haj pilgrimage this year. The Ministry of Education through the Department of Planning and Estate Management and Higher Education Division organised a Doa Selamat ceremony for the pilgrims.

The ceremony was held at the Main Hall of Curriculum Development Department, New Building of the Ministry of Education at Old Airport, Berakas.

Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman was the guest of honour.

Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh was also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Maskub bin Haji Hussin from the Curriculum Development Department and followed by a religious talk titled Persediaan Rohani Menjadi Tetamu Allah by Mosque Affairs Officer at Universiti Brunei Darussalam Mosque Haji Jufri bin Haji Hidup.

The talk discussed the importance of acquiring knowledge for the intending haj pilgrims so that they know what to expect while performing their Haj rituals. At the same time, it is also important for the pilgrims to prepare food and medication prior to departure.

It was followed by the handing over of donations to the pilgrims by the minister and the deputy minister.

Fire and Rescue Department

THE Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) held a Doa Selamat and donations handover to officers and staff who will perform the Haj pilgrimage this year.

The ceremony was held at the Surau of FRD Headquarters, Old Airport, Berakas yesterday. Six officers and staff will be leaving to perform Haj.

Acting Director of the FRD Lim Hock Guan was the guest of honour.

Also present were officers and staff of FRD.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil followed by the donation presentation.

A Doa read by Head Religious Instructor of FRD Haji Othman bin Haji Asat concluded the event.
