Religious ceremonies continue

The Tedarus ceremony organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) at mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide in the holy month of Ramadhan came to a close on Monday night with a Khatam Al-Quran at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Ra’es of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, heads of departments, officers and staff at the ministry were also present.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister. A Tadabbur Al-Quran was delivered by Head of Al-Minhaaj Centre Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, followed by the reading of Takhtim led by the officers and staff of the mosque, committee members of mosques as well as officers and staff of Mosque Affairs Department.

The Doa Khatam was read by Mosque Affairs Officer Begawan Mudim Haji Abdul Latif bin Haji Saman.

It ended with Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Mosque Affairs Officer Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murat.

Meanwhile, the National Khatam Al-Quran for youth groups and Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim was held at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong recently.

Organised by the Mosque Affairs Department and the mosque Takmir committee, the ceremony was attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister, followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran and Takhtim, Tahlil, Doa Arwah and Doa Khatam.

The ceremony also saw a presentation of donations to 28 orphans by the minister.


Standard Chartered Bank

Twenty-eight Standard Chartered Bank staff attended a recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil ceremony at the bank’s main office in Bandar Seri Begawan, in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan and Nuzul Al-Quran celebration recently.

CEO Standard Chartered Bank Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim was present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil led by the bank’s Treasury Manager Ehwana binti Yahya.

The event ended with a mass Asar prayer.

Fourteen staff from the bank also contributed their efforts to clean the graves and pay respects to those who have passed away at the Muslim cemetery near the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

The volunteering initiative was coordinated by Standard Chartered’s Recreation Club committee.

Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam

The Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at Ar-Rahman Mosque in Kampong Tanjung Bunut recently.

Acting Minister of Religious Affair Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar in his capacity as the Chairman of Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam Board of Directors was the guest of honour.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran and Dikir Marhaban led by Imam of Ar-Rahman Mosque Saufi bin Haji Suhaini.

It continued with the recitation of Doa Khas and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, led by the mosque Imam, the presentation of donation by the guest of honour before concluding with the breaking of fast. Members of the board of directors of Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam, secretary and deputy secretary of Islamic Religious Council, officers and staff attended.

Islamic Da’wah Centre

The Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), through the Muallaf Development Section and the Belait District Da’wah Unit continued its Tedarus ceremony in the rural area of Belait District last Saturday.

Leading the delegation was Assistant Director of the PDI Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar, who was accompanied by Head of the PDI Belait District branch Zikrinaidah binti Mat Dikir.

The gathering was held at Kampong Melilas Religious Hall where the recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah were held before the breaking of fast. The event continued with a Tedarus Al-Quran led by the PDI Assistant Director, followed by mass Isyak, Sunnat Tarawikh and Sunnat Witir prayers.

Meanwhile, a delegation from PDI also held a similar event at Kampong Bebuloh Religious Activities Centre recently.

The delegation was led by PDI’s Head of Administration Division, Hajah Rasiah binti
Haji Taib.

Head of Kampong Bebuloh Haji Said bin Tundak and Head of the Secretariat for the Publication of Tafsir Mushaf Brunei Darussalam Hajah Norzainenah binti Haji Md Zine as well as village residents were also present.

The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the recitation of the Tedarus led by Assistant Chief Administration Division (Public Relations) at PDI Pengiran Muhammad Fuad bin Pengiran Haji Sulaiman.

The ceremony ended with Sunnat Terawikh and Sunnat Witir prayers. The ceremony also saw the presentation of donations to eight orphans from Kampong Bebuloh, the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah, breaking of fast, and mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers.

The Prisons Department recently held a Tedarus, Khatam Al-Qur’an, and Tahlil ceremony at the At-Taqwa meeting room of training centre of the department, organised by the Women Prison Institute.

Acting Director of Prisons Haji Muhammad ‘Isamuddin bin Abdullah Juna was the guest of honour.

Acting Deputy Director of Prisons Department Pengiran Haji Mohd Bahrin bin Pengiran Haji Jamaluddin, senior officials and staff of the department as well as orphans of staff in the department were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by Khatam Al-Quran, Takhtim and Doa Khatam led by Head of Religious Maraburong Prison Institution Phase One Haji Azmi bin Haji Tapau.

The event also saw the presentation of donation to 13 orphans and single mothers.

The guest of honour also presented drinks to officers of the departments and cooperative members, contributed by the Welfare and Sport Club and cooperatives of the department, Tanggungan Berhad.

The Seameo Voctech Regional Centre held a Nuzul Al-Quran ceremony at its Seri Kerna Hall recently.

Seameo Voctech Regional Centre Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar, Deputy Director of Administration Pengiran Hajah Hamidah binti Pengiran Haji Hidup, Deputy Director of Professional Dr Paryono, as well as officers and staff of the centre were present.

The event saw a Nuzul Al-Quran talk ‘Appreciating the last 10 days of Ramadhan and Lailatul Qadar’ delivered by assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Usuluddin, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Mohammad Khairul Nazif bin Haji Awang Damit.

The event also saw a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony and mass Zohor prayer.

Supreme and Magistrate’s Courts

The Supreme and the Magistrate’s Courts yesterday concluded a Tedarus with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the High Court for the officers and staff of the Judiciary Department.

Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court Haji Abdullah Soefri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour. The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour.

This was followed by the recitation of verses from Al-Quran, reading of Takhtim, Doa Khatam and Dikir Marhaban.

The annual activity aimed at enlivening Ramadhan, was participated by 120 officers and staff of the Supreme Court and Magistrate’s Court.
