    A relationship based on brotherhood

    Since establishing diplomatic ties more than three decades ago, Brunei and Saudi Arabia continue to enjoy “unique brotherly relationship” and both countries continue to look forward and seek heightened levels of mutual cooperation in various fields.

    Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Emad bin Abdul Aziz bin Saad Al Muhanna made the remark in his message on the occasion of the 89th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that is celebrated today.

    He also praised the notably strong and deeper ties between the two brotherly nations under the leaderships of both countries. “The mutual understanding, respect, and ties of brotherhood that bond our two brotherly governments and people, have witnessed continuous progress and development,” he said, adding their commitment to continue to seek ways to raise the level of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two nations in various fields through the Joint Saudi-Brunei Committee of Cooperation, while also raising the level of prospects in various fields.

    He also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang-Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of His Majesty for the continuous support and assistance being provided to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam, which he said has helped them a great deal in fulfilling its missions. “I genuinely implore Allah the Almighty to bless the efforts of the leaderships of our two brotherly countries. May He continue his protection, harmony and divine care on the government and people of our two brotherly countries,” he added

    The celebration of the 89th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia honours the unification of the scattered vast provinces of Arabia, to form the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which was established in 1932 through a royal decree issued by the founding King Abdul-Aziz bin Abdurrahman Al Saud.

    Ever since its establishment, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been undergoing significant progress in its socio-political and economic spheres. The recent massive economic reforms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as was espoused in vision 2030, are borne out of the wise, proactive and futuristic leadership which is alongside each other of the needful for better socio-economic wellbeing of its citizens and residents. Hence, several practical steps and policy are being taken and formulated in this regard.

    The Future Investment Initiative (FII) is one of these practical steps, and it aims to acquire expertise and create viable platform for experts to explore the opportunities, trends and challenges that are shaping the global investment landscape as a whole.

    The ambassador also shared that the massive economical and developmental revitalisation that covers Security, Economic, Social, Health and Education sectors is taking place inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that assures all the Saudi people and residents a decent livelihood.

    “The kingdom’s economy is now going through its best form of performance so far. The kingdom has achieved great success in building solid and diversified economic base, and was successful in reducing its excessive dependence on oil exports. The contribution of non-oil sectors to the economy has risen sharply, as such it is now expected that the promising sectors of manufacturing, transport, communications, financial services, and construction would be the main players of growth in the nearest future, enabling Saudi economy to maintain its leading role as the strongest economy in the region and as one of the top economies in the world,” he added.

    In the religious affairs sector, he said that the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is making big efforts in providing the best services for pilgrims, as the Kingdom continues its expansion projects in order to tackle mass crowds related problems, especially in the areas surrounding the Jamrah and other ritual places. While, construction of roads intersections, bridges and many development projects are currently ongoing around the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was built in all fields by its people, who act as partners in building and in enhancing security, stability and supports its leadership before and after the era of oil.

    The foreign policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is based on the principles of good neighbourliness and respect for the sovereignty of states and support of the stability of these states. It rejects interferences in its internal affairs, irrespective of geographic and political positions. In doing so, the kingdom continues to play its vital role in making the region as peaceful and as stable as possible, as well as it continues to open its door wider than ever for the outside world to visit the kingdom, experience its rich cultural heritage and enjoy its rare breathtaking sceneries.

    The theme of this year’s unique and exceptional celebration of the 89th Saudi National Day, is labelled as Himmah Hattal-Qimmah which is Arabic for ‘With Courage Towards the top of the Mountains’ which was inspired by the words of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, as a slogan that summarises the readiness and capability of both the Government and the people of Saudi Arabia to actualise the policies and reforms entailed in the vision 2030. This year’s celebration will last for four days between September 19-23 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and shall features packed entertainment schedules, concerts, firework shows, and several other exciting events that are set to be held across the kingdom. It was also announced that a four-day holiday was awarded to enable Saudi citizens to enjoy the festivity. In addition, a Smartphone app has also been created to enable everybody to easily track the events of the National Day celebration.
