    Regional meeting on tourism opens

    The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) through the Tourism Development Department is hosting the 16th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Joint Tourism Development (JTD) Cluster Meeting.

    The official opening ceremony was held at Kiulap Plaza Hotel in the capital yesterday.

    Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the MPRT Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali officiated. Tourism Regional Director from the Republic of the Philippines Myra Paz Valderassa-Abubakar was also present.

    The meeting discusses the progress of the implementation of 2017-2019 Rolling Pipe 1 Project on tourism access; support infrastructure; ecotourism product development; human resource development in tourism; and coordinated approaches to nature, culture and heritage management.

    The meeting also discusses initiatives including transport, socio-cultural and education, environment, information and communication technology as well as custom, immigration and quarantine.

    Over 50 delegates comprising officials from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines are attending the two-day meeting. The programme will include a tour to Katimahar Agri Park where the delegates will experience activities such as ATV adventure rides, fruits and vegetable picking and exploring the herbal garden.
