Students, jobseekers and employees should not limit themselves to a single job description but seek to obtain multiple skills, knowledge and experiences.
This was said by Co-Chairperson of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Career Fair Nurathirah Salihah binti Haji Mohd Salleh during its launch at the Level 3 Business Library of UBD yesterday.
“The job market and the work environment today require government and private sectors to face challenges in the global economy. It demands us to be flexible and adaptable to the shift in global trends particularly in the 4th Industrial Revolution where we are moving towards becoming a Smart Nation,” she said.
Over 170 employment opportunities and internship placements are available at the UBD Career Fair until January 16.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.
The event is organised by UBD’s Centre of Networking, Employment and Career Training (UBD CoNECT) together with the Office of Alumni Relations and Advancement (UBD OARA).
Nurathirah Salihah said, “In its 6th Installation, the career fair is taking a blended approach for students, alumni and potential employees to access it virtually through a website where exhibitors can conduct livestream sessions, allowing a more in depth discussion on topics including corporate environment, upcoming apprenticeships and internship programmes.”
The online site showcases the profiles of employers and exhibitors, frequently asked questions along with details of vacancies available with features to send CVs and RSVP to get in touch with employers. Forty exhibitors are participating.
Several on campus venues will be used for walk in interviews and accommodate audience to watch live streaming sessions with exhibitors.
UBD Conversations is also hosting a series of talks by speakers from public and private sectors, in conjunction with the Career Fair.
