Red Crescent, Malaysian delegation meet over humanitarian works

The Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) recently hosted a delegation from the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) who are in the country from June 4 to 8.

The delegation, led by President Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, include Palestinian Scholars of Southeast Asia Dr Ahed Abu Atta, Secretariat of Asian Scholars Dr Fawzi Zakaria, Managing Director of Waqaf and Infaq Al-Aqsa Haji Amirul Selamat, Office Assistant of MAPIM President Office Hazlina Mohd Sahar and Women Entrepreneur Volunteer of MAPIM Wan Rusyaini binti Wan Mohd.

BDRCS president Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yussoff bin Pengiran Haji Bahar was present, joined by honorary member Haji Mohd Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah, secretary general Sheikh Kadir bin Abdullah, deputy president Haji Mohd Suhaimi Ibrahim and honorary treasurer Amirulrizal bin Makmun.

The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation opportunities between the two agencies, especially regarding humanitarian works in the region and volunteers’ role in catalysing the economic stability and peace in Asia-Pacific.

The two parties also reached a consensus on Palestine issues, particularly in humanitarian works for the people of Palestine.

The meeting also touched on collaboration through the Waqaf and Infaq Al-Aqsa Project, administered by MAPIM.

The meeting was aimed at enhancing understanding and cooperation in ensuring that humanitarian works catalyse Maqasid Syariah at regional and global level, particularly on Palestine issues.
