Recreational activities mark International Customs Day

Over 70 participants took part in the Cycling and Walkathon around Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday morning in conjunction with International Customs Day and to enliven Bandarku Ceria.

The event, organised by the Royal Customs and Excise Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, was held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.

The guest of honour Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah officiated.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman; Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin; permanent secretaries, officers and staff of the department and ministry were also present.

Its objective was to strengthen relations between department and ministry officers and staff to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

The participants also attended a Tazkirah Subuh at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque titled ‘The Issue of Smuggling and the Role of Public in Caring for the Nation’s Security’ organised with the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
