RBPF all set for state-of-art academy

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) is set to have its own state-of-the-art and eco-friendly Police Academy, under the 11th National Development Plan, in Kampong Pengkalan Dalai, Mukim Telisai in the Tutong District.

Covering 150 acres of land, the academy aims to enhance the standards of basic and continuous learning for RBPF personnel.

Details of the new Police Academy were revealed during the handover ceremony for the Police Academy Master Plan Project documents at the Public Works Department (JKR) headquarters yesterday.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar handed over the Police Academy Master Plan Project documents to Police Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali.

JKR Director of Development Salfawatty binti Haji Mohd Salleh said, “Sepakat Setia Perunding (B) Sdn Bhd has been appointed as the consultant for the Police Academy project.

“The initial phase of this project has taken five months, with the cost of BND230,000 for the preparation of the master plan.”

The scope of the Police Academy master plan includes providing infrastructure work on 150 acres of land. The facilities to be built are accommodation for teaching staff, mosques, obstacle courses, training fields, drone facilities, research/tactical and virtual simulators, medical centres, parade grounds, dormitories and dormitory facilities for trainees, an indoor sports hall and sports field, and a swimming pool complex.

The academy can estimately accommodate as many as 100 to 150 administration staff and 500 trainees. The new academy will be split into three zones: Zone 1 is facilities that are accessible to the public; Zone 2 places administration and institutions; and Zone 3 is a restricted area.

The new Police Academy’s design is in line with international standards, adopting green concept elements, with a sustainable scheme and eco-friendly features.
