RBAF personnel join Al-Quran competition in Saudi Arabia

Five Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) officers and personnel participated in the 9th International Al-Quran Memorisation Competition for military personnel in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia recently.

Acting Director of the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT) Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim led the delegation.

The participants chosen to represent the RBAF in the competition were: Lieutenant Muhammad Hidayatullah Sunazul Fikar bin Suip for the 30 Juzuk Al-Quran category; Private (U) Muhammad Akid Arif bin Haji Sujono for the 20 Juzuk Al-Quran category; Sergeant Izzat bin Hamdan for the 10 Juzuk Al-Quran category; Major Abdul Mujib bin Haji Japar for the five Juzuk Al-Quran category; and Private Muhammad Zainul Arifin bin Haji Haminuddin for the Tilawah Al-Quran category.

Saudi Arabia took the top spots in the five, 10 and 30 Juzuk categories, and the 20 Juzuk category was won by Oman, while Kuwait took the top spot in Al-Quran recitation category.

The competition, by special invitation from Saudi Arabia, is one of the platforms and initiatives to showcase RBAF’s ability to glorify the purity of Al-Quran and provide exposure to RBAF officers and personnel.

It also provides an opportunity to raise RBAF and the Sultanate’s profile as well as to strengthen defence ties between Brunei Darussalam and Saudi Arabia.
