Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle 10 boxes of raw meat and 300 packets of chicken sausages in Temburong District on Thursday.

Policemen on patrol in the fish landing area of Kampong Negalang detected a suspicious vehicle. On seeing the police, the driver sped towards Labu Road, along Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge, the RBPF said.

Police personnel later found the vehicle abandoned at KM15.9. A close examination led to the discovery of the contraband.

The vehicle and the contraband were brought to Bangar Police Station and handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.

The RBPF said it will continue close monitoring to eradicate crime, especially the smuggling of contraband.

The public with information on criminal activities can contact the police hotline at 993.
