The Lions Club of Belait organised a health screening as part of their Diabetes Awareness Project at the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Library Kampong Pandan on Saturday.

The chairperson for the project was Terry Thoo, accompanied by Lions Club President Keith Wong and Secretary Joseph Teo.

Two retired nurses Pang and Connie Leong, as well as a volunteer Julie Shim assisted with the health screening.

Thoo said the check-up conducted include weight and height measurements, blood pressure, sugar levels, body-mass index, oxygen levels, and pulse.

“Altogether, it helps paint a picture on an individual’s overall health and how they are susceptible to diabetes, which is an illness affecting a majority of people in the country.”

Twenty five people were screen, and it was hoped that the event will raise awareness on the dangers of diabetes as well as provided information on preventative measures in daily life.
