Racing in the dark

The night race not only provides a unique and exciting experience for the participating runners but also helps promote a healthy lifestyle, said Pekan Kuala Belait ‘B’ Village Head Mohammad Sufrizal bin Haji Hamdan.

He said this during the four-hour-long N8enduro Race starting at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) on Saturday.

Some 150 runners participated in the race organised by the Pekan Kuala Belait Village Consultative Council. The event challenged runners to complete as many laps as they could along the 3.8-kilometre (km) loop that crisscrossed around the surrounding area. The village head added that the race was held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday celebration.

Meanwhile, a smaller fun run was also held where 40 runners dressed in fun and brightly lit costumes participated in a 3km run around the venue.
