Qaris, qariahs receive certificates

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), through the Department of Youth and Sports, held a certificate presentation for the preliminary round and semi-finals of the National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2021 at the Silaturrahim Hall, Pusat Belia, Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was the guest of honour.

The event began with a speech by Department of Youth and Sports Acting Director and Chairwoman Mariam binti Ulat, followed by the certificate presentation.

The results was announced by Chairman of Judges Haji Mohd Sujairi bin Haji Dollah prior to the end of the event.

The event concluded with the recitation of Doa led by Imam Haji Manan bin Haji Osman from the Mosque Affairs Department.

A total of 97 participants comprising 60 qaris and 37 qariahs competed in the preliminary rounds from March 31 to April 3, while 29 participants comprising 15 Qaris and 14 Qariahs competed in the semi-finals.

The finals will see the reading of five Qaris and five qariahs (including the Waiting Champion Qari and Qariah National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2020). The qaris are: Awangku Adi Nazri bin Pengiran Haji Jofri; Abdul Wafiy bin Haji Ibrahim; Abdul Haziq Syarafuddin bin Abdul Habib; Afiq Haririe bin Haji Mat Daud; and Muhammad Sa’dun bin Suhaili, while the qariahs are: Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah Binti Pengiran Haji Jofri; Dayangku Nurul Sakinah Adawiyah binti Pengiran Ainolazahar; Najla Sabreena binti Haji Abdul Rajid; Dayangku Alma Hazirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri; and Dayangku Alya Syahirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri.

The National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2021 Finals will be held at MCYS’ Digadong Hall on Thursday. The public can view the finals live via the DYS Facebook and Instagram @jbs.bn.
