FORTY students from several schools sitting for the Primary School Assessment (PSR) this year will soon attend their free tuition classes under the Curahan Ilmu Programme 2019, launched at the multipurpose hall of Dato Mohd Yassin Primary School, Mentiri yesterday by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

The students will be given tuition in four core subjects – Bahasa Malay, Mathematics, Science and English – under the programme, of which classes will run for 10 months from January until October this year.

The programme, formerly known as Wakaf Ilmu Programme 2019, is organised by the Community and Communication Bureau of the RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Village Consultative Council in collaboration with TeachMe Guru and the Youth Community Transformation Club of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Programme co-chairperson Fatimah binti Haji Jamil said participants of the programme comprise orphans and students from underprivileged families residing in RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau, Mukim Mentiri.

The number of participants increased to 40 compared to 24 students last year.

Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan said the programme made a positive impact on the students’ academic performance since its inception last year.

“The success has been proven by the excellent results achieved by 20 out of the 24 students. This reflects the partnership among the mukim, village, and private and government agencies,” the minister said.

He urged the students to take full advantage of the opportunity and reminded parents to support their children to help them achieve a brighter future.

Learning supplies were also distributed to participants.
