Proud day for 30 officers

A total of 30 officers completed the 9th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course (CSC) yesterday at the Defence Academy, RBAF.

Present as guest of honour was Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.

Also present were the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Service Commanders, Joint Force Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Representatives from Foreign Missions in Brunei Darussalam, Defence Advisers and Defence Attachés in Brunei Darussalam, Directors, Commandants, UBD lecturers, senior RBAF officers and family members of the graduates.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and verses from Surah An-Nisa by Major Alwaleed Rashid Mohammed Alkiyumi from the Royal Air Force of Oman, one of the participants of the 9th RBAF CSC.

It was followed by welcoming remarks from Commandant of the Defence Academy RBAF Colonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan. The event continued with the guest of honour’s remarks.

As with previous years, a number of special recognition awards were presented to the students of the CSC. This year, the Overall Excellence Award was given to Major Dai Jing from the Singapore Army. Major Dai Jing also received the UBD Academic Excellence Award as this year marks the CSC’s first-time partnership with UBD.

The RBAF Commendation Award was given to 721 Lieutenant Commander Pengiran Mohammed Faren bin Pengiran Mohamad Noor from the Royal Brunei Navy.

The 9th RBAF CSC participants comprised officers from the RBAF and RBPF as well as 13 international participants from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.

The RBAF CSC aims to broaden officers’ perspectives and professional knowledge using tactical and academic approaches and disciplines to study the contemporary strategic environment and its implications of current environment on their practice as defence and security specialists.
