The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Executive Committee (SEAMEO EXCO) Meeting 2024 was held virtually yesterday, with Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin representing Brunei Darussalam. Ministry officials also attended the meeting.
Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching at the Department of Education, Philippines, Dr Gina O Gonong chaired this year’s meeting. The key discussions included the SEAMEO Secretariat’s work plan and results framework, along with proposals and reports on various SEAMEO projects and programmes.
Several proposals were endorsed during the meeting, set to be presented at the 47th SEAMEO High Officials’ Meeting, taking place in November 2024.
The SEAMEO EXCO Meeting is an annual gathering of senior officials from the SEAMEO EXCO, tasked with advising SEAMEO High Officials on strategic directions and efforts of SEAMEO Units.
The committee also sets guidelines and makes recommendations on the management of the SEAMEO Secretariat and the development of SEAMEO Centres.
