Projek Ikan Pusu close in on third spot after Indera win

Projek Ikan Pusu took a big step towards finishing third in the NFABD Under-16 Youth League after registering a comeback 3-2 victory over Indera SC at the NFABD House recently.

This season has seen a tussle between incumbent leaders DPMM FC and firm favourites Tabuan for the title, leaving other competitors by a considerable margin in the 11-member table.

As the league title became a two-horse race, defending champions Projek Ikan Pusu’s immediate interest are to secure a top-three finish.

The recent setback to title-chasing Tabuan in a match gave Hawa FT a glimmer of hope of ruining that target after they moved level on points.

But Projek Ikan Pusu, who have two games in hand, moved a step closer towards making third place out of reach for their rivals.

Indera SC, whose hopes of fourth place evaporated in their last match, nearly heightened Hawa’s hopes of making a late push for third place after jumping to a 2-0 lead.

A double from captain Sebasitian Battision in either side of half-time looked to condemn the reigning holders to back-to-back defeats.

However, Projek Ikan Pusu escaped defeat and came back with three goals in what appeared to be six minutes of madness for the Indera young players.

Mohammad Danial Bazli bin Mohammed Sumady continued his prolific form with his 54th minute effort before Alexander Yong helped his side restore parity two minutes later.

But Projek Ikan Pusu were far from finished as Mohd Saiful Mahri bin Sambri stabbed home the winner to break Indera’s hearts two minutes from time.

Elsewhere at the Arena Sports Complex, Hawa FT played their part in piling the pressure for third place after beating Kota Ranger 4-1.

Md Amin bin Abdul Hassan opened the scoring for Hawa in the 12th minute but Kota Ranger pegged back a couple of minutes later through Md Haziq Asnawi.

Hawa ensured they went into the break with the lead after Md Amin doubled his tally in the 28th minute.

A second-half double from team captain Ranieri Seggei Ak Robert Rangia ensured all three points for the Belait-based outfit.
