The Brunei Council On Social Welfare (MKM) launched its fourth Projek Buku Amal, conducted annually during Ramadhan since 2018.
The project aims to distribute books to underprivileged students to inculcate reading habits.
MKM Vice President Hajah Johana binti Haji Jaya said, “In the course of our charity work we have found that the homes of underprivileged students seldom have any books for them to read as a hobby. The only books they have are school books”.
There are 220 underprivileged students listed under the project.
This initiative is in collaboration with dBookHaus at The Mall where donors can also purchase books for students in need.
Ten per cent from the proceeds of book sales under the project will be donated to MKM. The project will run until the end of Syawal where the books will be distributed to the students.
