The Well-Fare Project Food Fair was held at Rimba Point from September 9-12.
The food fair was one of the activities conducted by the Well-Fare Project, a community work project managed by seven government officers currently in the Young Executive Programme, 4th Cohort.
The Well-Fare Project involves six financial welfare recipients who are given the opportunity to attend classes in basic cooking and product development. They also attended counselling and motivational sessions.
The food sold by the participants at the food fair were nasi briyani and soto, as well as recipes they learnt during the previous week’s cooking classes.
Apart from selling at Rimba Point, they also sent their food products to cube stores in Ong Sum Ping, at the Housing Development Department and at the Survey Department.
Sumimy, a participant, said, “I am grateful to be chosen to take part in this project as it has helped to increase my motivation level and inspired me to work harder in making my business a success.”
“I have now gained basic knowledge in calculating my daily capital and profit, thanks to classes conducted by the Well-Fare Project,” said fellow participant Mariliana.
The project aims to raise awareness among recipients of financial welfare on the importance of being self-sufficient and financially independent. It also aims to encourage the participants to generate stable income from their business.
