The HEAL (Happy Environment And Lifestyle) Programme is a public-private partnership (PPP) joint venture programme between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd marking the second series for 2020/2021.
Its goal is to support physical activity interventions in community settings through building, strengthening, and maintaining social networks that create opportunities for physical activity.
The programme aims to raise awareness on the benefits of regular physical activity and to reduce sedentary behaviour in the community settings.
Nominated HEAL Physical Activity Ambassadors are expected to organise one mass event for this programme.
In this regard, Mukim Pengkalan Batu Riders (MPB Riders) organised XPDC Grand Fondo 100km/60km on Sunday. The event, free of charge and open to public, began with registration at Gerai Serbaneka in Kampong Masin Bebatik.
The 100km route was flagged off by Chairman Haji Ariffin bin Haji Abdul Rashid followed by the flag off from 60km route. Some 130 participants joined and were entitled to a lucky draw.
The MoH hopes that this programme will promote physical activity to maintain a healthy weight, contribute to the reduction of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country and realise MoH’s vision ‘Towards a Healthy Nation’ and Brunei Vision 2035 second goal ‘High Quality of Life’.
