Programme instils nationhood spirit in students

A TOTAL of 296 students of Menglait Secondary School attended the Rakan Remaja Penerangan (Information Youth Peer) programme held at the school’s multipurpose hall yesterday.

The programme was initiated by the Nationhood Unit, Nationhood and Community Division, Information Department, Prime Minister’s Office.

Acting Head of the Special Education Unit at the Ministry of Education Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor was the guest of honour.

Deputy Principal (Administration) Hajah Khadijah binti Haji Mohd Salleh and teachers were also present.

The programme began with the singing of the national anthem and patriotic song Bendera Negara followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa  Selamat.

Head of the Nationhood Unit Hajah Hamsah binti Datu Kerna Haji Jaya delivered a talk on nationhood.

The programme which also saw a video clip presentation on the national flag as well as Hafazan Al-Quran and poetry performance by the students, singing and stage comedy act by the Information Department, concluded with a quiz and prize presentation.

The programme aimed to inform youth about the current developments in the country, instil nationhood spirit and social responsibility as well as to motivate students to spread the information among their peers.
