Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development and Acting Managing Director of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak emphasised the significance of programmes that empower entrepreneurs and foster economic self-reliance.
She said this during a ceremony on Monday to honour the participants of the Entrepreneurial Skills Development Course for Bakarih Entrepreneurs.
The event, at the Silaturahim Hall at the Youth Centre, was a key component of Yayasan’s strategic goal to promote self-sufficiency. The Welfare Financing Scheme, which provides targeted financial aid and training, plays a crucial role in supporting entrepreneurs and uplifting those in need.
In collaboration with strategic partners, the course offered comprehensive training on modern business practices and techniques to enhance productivity and product quality. The course held from September 23 to 30, attracted 30 participants from the Bakarih Entrepreneurs Programme and Community Development Department’s entrepreneurial programme.
The Bakarih Entrepreneurs Programme focuses on nurturing individuals who have received business capital assistance through the Welfare Financing Scheme. The programme by equipping them with entrepreneurial skills, aims to foster self-sufficiency and empower them to succeed in their businesses. – Fadley Faisal
