Mariam binti Abdul Ghani was the lucky grand prize winner of BND250,000 at the prize presentation ceremony held yesterday, as part of the ongoing BIBD Aspirasi Rewards Campaign.
Muhammad Amirul Alif bin Jonhimran and Cheng Eng Huat @ Jacky were two other winners who won the quarterly awards of BND25,000 each.
Another 10 winners walked away with BND2,500 each, as part of the final monthly rewards draw.
The prizes were presented by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, in his capacity as the Chairman of BIBD Board of Directors, during the Aspirasi Grand Prize Presentation Ceremony held at The Empire Brunei. Mariam, a mother of six and a warder at the Prisons’ Department, told the Weekend Bulletin that she had made a deposit of BND2,000 to participate in the BIBD Aspirasi programme.
“Initially, we wanted to use the money to renovate our house, but I followed my instinct to deposit it for BIBD Aspirasi,” she said. BIBD Aspirasi was introduced to support the objectives of Brunei’s national vision and Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) in promoting better financial management skills and a savings culture among the people of Brunei Darussalam.
The overwhelmingly positive public response towards this campaign indicates that the programme’s subscribers understand and appreciate that savings can be financially rewarding.
Under the revamped campaign, BIBD will be offering more prizes as part of the monthly, quarterly and grand prize draws.
The rewards programme is also intended to encourage customers to keep their funds for longer term savings, as those who save for a longer period will increase their chances of winning.
BIBD Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mubashar Khokhar explained that BIBD Aspirasi is part of BIBD’s commitment to support the aspirations of their customers, as well as the country’s economic well-being, in offering the public an opportunity to invest in a life-changing
rewards programme. “For Aspirasi 2, we have lowered the initial deposit to enable more people to participate in this programme and enjoy the benefits,” he said.
Since the launching of Aspirasi in September 2018, BIBD has awarded over 100 winners with total cash prizes of BND700,000.
The unique investment programme encourages customers to save for their financial future by effectively managing their savings, especially through the convenience of the BIBD NEXGEN mobile app.
