The Prisons Department was crowned champions in the mixed veteran 4x100m race of the Brunei Open Relay Championship 2024.
The men’s veteran 4x100m event was won by Tutong Runners, while Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College claimed victory in the men’s junior 4x100m category.
COT JPKK Tutong ‘A’ dominated the women’s junior 4×100 metre race. The Youth and Sports Department (JBS) Tutong Scheme excelled in both the men’s Open 4x400m and women’s open 4x400m races.
LDRT ‘A’ triumphed in the mixed open 4×400 metre event, while Team X clinched the title in the men’s open 4×100 metre.
The tournament, was organised by JBS Tutong Branch, in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation (BDAF) and Tutong Runners.
The tournament, held from September 6-8, featured preliminary rounds on the first day, with the main competition taking place on September 8.
The championship included eight events across various categories.
Deputy Director of JBS Haji Mohamad Rosfazillah bin Haji Yusly was the guest of honour and presented awards to the winners.
The championship showcased a diverse group of athletes and highlighted the increasing enthusiasm among athletics. – Rokiah Mahmud
