MUDA Hashim Secondary School in Tutong has seen an increase of 0.71 per cent of Year 11 students achieving at least five ‘O’ Levels as compared to 2017, Principal Haji Mohamad Saiful Bahrin bin Haji Sabli said.
He made these comments at the academic prize presentation ceremony for students who obtained excellent results in the Year 8 Student Progress Assessment (SPA) and the Year 11 BC GCE ‘O’ Level/IGCSE for the year 2018 on February 28.
The principal added that 54.4 per cent of Year 8 students obtained at least five Grades A to C in the Student Progress Examination (SPE), one of the two components of SPA.
Seventeen Year 8 students and 47 Year 11 students were celebrated in the ceremony.
The guest of honour was member of the Legislative Council and Penghulu of Mukim Telisai in Tutong Yang Berhormat Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit.
The ceremony began with the entrance of the Year 11 students in their graduation gowns and hats into the school hall. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem.
The highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of the Year 11 student recipients of the 2018 Most Improved Student, Top Achievement in the 2018 BC GCE ‘O’ Level and the Holistic Education Programme awards.
Muhamad Ali Habri bin Joffre was awarded with the Top Achievement award. Abdul Maleek bin Haji Abdul Harith and Mohammad Aqiel Syauqi bin Azahari received the Holistic Education Programme and Most Improved Student awards.
