Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School (SMSAB) in Lambak Kanan reminisced over two decades of achievements and milestones at a celebration to mark its Silver Jubilee yesterday, that also saw former teachers and students joining in to mark the significant achievement.
Guest of honour Acting Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman presented mementos to the school’s former principals and deputy principals, as well as a silver jubilee award to teachers who have served more than 20 years in the school.
An array of performances and activities put up by teachers and students enlivened the celebration, including a march past by the school’s uniformed cadets, martial arts demonstration, different school club acivities, as well as choir and Nasyid performances by former students of the school.
In her welcoming address, Principal Sia Ai Chin highlighted some of the school’s proud achievements in the past 25 years since its establishment, including its feat of becoming champion of the Brunei Entrepreneurship Education Scheme (BEES) organised by LiveWIRE Brunei in 2012 and 2013 and also most outstanding company in 2014.
She said the school was also recently awarded the ASEAN Eco-School Award in Cambodia. “This is a proud achievement for our school as we strive to generate students who are savvy in agripreneurship,” she added.
The principal also mentioned successful collaborations they have forged not only within the school’s administration, between schools and parents, but also with external agencies, that has benefitted the school and its students.
