Over 40 kilogrammes of rubbish were collected as part of a cleaning campaign organised by the Pekan Tutong Mukim Consultative Council (MPM Pekan Tutong) yesterday.
The council members were joined by senior citizens and MPM members from other Mukims in Tutong.
The cleaning campaign focused along the areas leading to the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex field where the get-together ceremony for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 77th birthday celebration will take place.
“The campaign is part of an ongoing activity to promote the importance of cleanliness in the Tutong District, not only in the village but mukims and other areas as well,” said Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan.
More than 80 volunteers participated in the cleaning campaign.
The get-together is scheduled for July 25. – Adib Noor
