THE opening night of the Sungai Kebun Bridge will be a historic and grand spectacle that will bring the Brunei River in the Capital to life, just as the whole country celebrates the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne.

During a rehearsal last evening for the much anticipated opening ceremony that will also see the Brunei River transformed into a sea of colours with a river float procession and a fireworks display, preparations are in full swing for the grand opening of the 750-metre bridge, the Sultanate’s first cable stayed bridge that will connect Bandar Seri Begawan to Sungai Kebun.

Members of the public are all welcome to witness the historic occasion on the evening of October 14 and come out in droves to express their appreciation and joy to His Majesty on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebration.

The river float procession will see the creative and colourful float designs put up by various government and private sector agencies while the fireworks display, sponsored by the Tiong Hwa Community in Brunei Darussalam will be a first of its kind in the Sultanate.
