THE spirit of altruism and charity was the subject of yesterday’s pre-dawn talk at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

“It is hoped that this can be passed down to the younger generation. The current concern and challenge being faced by today’s society is that a majority of the younger generation are more sympathetic, but less empathetic towards others,” said Acting Head of the Special Education Unit and Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Volunteers Committee Roadshow Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor delivering his talk titled Sukarelawan…Ikuttah Biskita.

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud; and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar were among those present.

Yesterday’s pre-dawn talk, part of the weekly Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat programme, was jointly organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah with the support of the PMO.
