A pre-dawn Tazkirah on ‘The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Tackling Diseases’ was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital yesterday.
The talk was delivered by Director of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah Centre of Research and Understanding at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Omar.
He said that Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) Sunnah relating to personal hygiene and healthcare are an example and guide for Muslims including performing ablution (Wudhu) five times a day, using Miswak before each prayer, self isolation and others.
He also highlighted that any disease created by Allah the Almighty comes with a cure. “Often, sickness is a test for us to reflect and increase our faith to draw closer to Allah the Almighty,” he added.
Joining the congregants yesterday were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud; Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; member of the Legislative Council and Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang; and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif.
The talk was part of the weekly ‘Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat’ programme organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs with support from the Prime Minister’s Office.
It aimed to invite more congregants, enliven activities at the mosque and perform mass Subuh prayer.
