Prayers to bless country

The National Road Safety Council (MKKJR) held a mass Sunnat Hajat prayer, recitation of Ratib Al-Attas and Asar prayer at Brunei International Airport Surau recently.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Chairman of MKKJR Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof was present, along with members of MKKJR, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, as well as heads of departments, officers and staff of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications.

The event aimed at seeking blessings from Allah the Almighty to protect the Sultanate from calamities and diseases, especially COVID-19, and pray for the safety of road users from accidents. Imam of the Brunei International Airport Surau Haji Mohd Asyhraf bin Haji Bujang led the Sunnat Hajat prayer, recitation of Ratib Al-Attas and Asar prayer.

The event was held in accordance to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The MKKJR continues to call on road users to start each journey with a prayer while increasing vigilance.

Drivers are also urged to check the brakes, tyres and lights among others, to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition. Drivers are urged to wear seat belts, not use mobile phones while driving and comply with speed limits and signs as well as traffic signals, said the MKKJR.

The agency also advised the public to plan trips, and if feeling tired, sleepy or restless, postpone it; and refrain from speeding, especially if late for an engagement, for a safe arrival at the destination.
