Prayers mark His Majesty’s 73rd birthday celebration

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined hundreds of congregants at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony to mark His Majesty’s 73rd birthday celebration yesterday.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

On hand to welcome the royal entourage were Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara and Advisor of His Majesty’s 73rd Birthday Celebration Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; Grand Chamberlain Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; and members of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 73rd Birthday Celebration led by the Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong as the Chairman of His Majesty’s 73rd Birthday Celebration’s National Committee.

The call for the Maghrib prayer was recited by Mudim Haji Suhaili bin Haji Kalong.

His Majesty and members for the royal family joined congregants in performing the mass Maghrib prayer followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer led by Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

The Chief Syar’ie Judge also led the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil.

This was followed by the Doa Kesyukuran read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, followed by mass Isyak prayer led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin.

Prior to departing the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, His Majesty and members of the royal family received the Junjung Ziarah from congregants comprising members of the Diplomatic Corps and the general public.

Doa Kesyukuran ceremonies were also held simultaneously in main mosques in all four districts yesterday night.
